Mute in an English only World by Chang-Rae Lee reports that new immigrants struggle with English and how their lives are affected. As many Asian immigrants moved to the United States, they had to learn a new language, English. Lee's mother had an experience where her English was funny so she took Lee to the market to help her. After years of practice, English becomes better but their first language fades. Immigrants are very open to change to a different culture and language.
